Sunday, April 8th 10:00 AM | Hike the Shavertown Trail

Hike the Shavertown Trail near the Pepacton Reservoir’s Shavertown Bridge Boat Launch. After a good climb for the first mile there will be a beautiful view overlooking the reservoir.  We will enjoy the view and walk around Snake Pond.  If the group is inclined, we will continue up an easier climb for a 3.3 mile loop returning to the pond and then back to the parking area. The upper loop is an nice second growth forest and beautiful rock formations.  This is an enjoyable hike for almost everyone. The total distance 2.3 or 5.3 miles.

Wear sturdy shoes and bring water and snacks or lunch.

Directions: From SR 28 in Margaretville turn left on SR 30.  Continue 8 miles to the Shavertown Bridge. Turn right and park at the upper parking area by the boat launch.

From Livingston Manor, take the Beaverkill Road, to Barkaboom Road pass Little Pond continue to the Shavertown Bridge turn right across bridge and left to the upper parking area by boat launch.

Hike on the Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) | Sunday July 23, 2017 8:00 am

Come discover this section of the FLT from the Downsville Covered Bridge to NYS Rte 206, with a side trip on the Trout Pond trail to Campbell Mt. Road and back. Pass Campbell Mt. Lean-to and old farm ruins near Rte 206.

Event Duration:  8.6 miles,  6 hours

Level of Difficulty:  Moderate-Difficult

Meet at Campbell Mt. trail head on Rte 206 for car shuttle to Downsville

Driving Directions: From Margaretville: take NYS Rte 28 west to NYS Rte 30. Then Rte 30 west to intersection of NYS Rte 206. South on 206 approx 2 miles to trail head and parking area on the on the right. Look for DEC trail head sign.

From Roscoe: Take NYS Rte 206 north 10 miles to trail head and parking area on the on the left. Look for DEC trail head sign.

Sunday, August 13th, 1:00 PM | Paddle the Pepacton

Experience an incredible outdoor adventure, paddling the beautiful Pepacton Reservoir. Join Catskill Mountain Club board member Ann Roberti for a scenic paddle on this recently opened NYC reservoir. Provide your own CANOE or KAYAK or rent from a local business.  We will launch promptly at 11AM from the Shavertown Bridge Recreational Boating Launch site on the north side of the bridge.

Life jackets required. All boats must be steam cleaned prior to arrival on site and have a valid DEP access sticker. Many vendors store boats on site, requiring only that you visit the store to pay and to pick up paddles and PFDs. Directions: From SR 28/30 in Margaretville, go west about 3 miles to the dividing of the highways. Turn south onto SR 30 and go 8 miles to the Shavertown Bridge,  turning north onto CR 1 just before crossing the bridge. The Boat Launch is on the left.

From SR 28 in Andes, turn south onto CR 1 and travel 8 miles to the Shavertown Bridge Boat Launch on the right.

Hike the FLT from Alder Lake to Cabot Mountain | Sunday August 20, 2017 8:00 am – CANCELLED

We will enjoy a variety of woods terrain from Alder Lake , stopping by Big Pond and then on to climb the Touch-Me-Not trail to Cabot Mt., finishing at Beech Hill Rd. Come enjoy the wild flowers and summer with us.

Driving Directions: From Margaretville: take NYS Rte 28 west to NYS Rte 30. Then Rte 30 west to long bridge over the Pepacton Reservoir. Cross bridge and take immediate left onto Barkaboon Rd. Follow Barkaboon to the end at Beaverkill Rd. Then left on Beaverkill to Alder Creek Rd. on Left. Alder Creek road to Alder Lake parking

From Livingston Manor: Exit 96 off of NYS 17 to Old Rte 17. Old 17 then becomes Beaverkill Rd. Take Beaver kill Rd. to Alder Creek Rd. on Left. Alder Creek road to Alder Lake parking . Total 16 miles

Trail Maintenance on Delhi Trails | Saturday, June 17th 8:30 AM

Join the CMC trail crew this Saturday, June 17th from 8:30 to noon for a trail maintenance hike on the Delhi Hiking Trails. Meet at Sheldon Park located on Sheldon Drive, Delhi, NY for assignment. Please R.S.V.P to Amy Beveridge at 607-437-6671.

Please bring water, wear appropriate footwear (sneakers or boots), and no dogs are allowed on this maintenance hike.

 

Delhi Trails Hike for Community Fit Day | Saturday, May 6th 9:00 am

Amy Beveridge will lead a hike on Delhi Trails as part of the Cardio Club’s Community Fit Day events.

Meet at 9:00AM in Sheldon Park, located at the end of Sheldon Drive, Delhi, NY. (By the school, ice rink, community garden). The hike will take the Sheldon Park Trail head on the Gribley trail to the vista, there participants may turn back to Sheldon Drive or continue on the Gribley Trail to the Lutheran Church trail head and walk the road back their cars.

This trail is moderate, with a steep incline for the first .5 mile. Participants should be prepared for a slow pace at the start of the hike, bring water, wear sturdy footwear, and plan for a 2 hour fund adventure.

Leashed, friendly dogs are allowed however not encouraged on this hike.
