We’ll hike (or snowshoe) the Blackhead Range, starting at Colgate Lake and finishing at Barnum Rd. We’ll summit three 3500+ foot peaks: Thomas Cole, Black Dome and Blackhead. By starting at Colgate Lake we’ll get that trail to the Escarpment Trail plus the Escarpment section that crosses Arizona Mountain, a 3400′ peak. Perfect for All Trails Challenge hikers and 3500 Club hikers.
A car shuttle is required. To avoid getting cold, we’ll maintain a steady, moderately quick pace with brief breaks. There will be no long lunch break. Because of the early sunset, headlamps are required. Snowshoes and/or traction aids may be required based on expected conditions.
