Catskill Fire Towers, Kaaterskill Falls, DEC Campgrounds are reopened to the public.

Updates:

Fire Towers are open to hikers for climbing, but the cabs on top remain closed.

The NY DEC has reopened access to DEC controlled fire towers. The towers  represent a potential risk if multiple people from different households are climbing the stairs at the same time.  Be sure to appropriately socially distance and wait your turn.  Wear a mask, wear gloves if you have them, and clean your hands after using handrails.

Campgrounds and some other facilities have reopened.

State-operated campgrounds, cabins, and cottages are open. New York State has begun taking new camping, cabin and cottage reservations for the 2020 season.

Day use visits to campgrounds are limited to maintain social distancing rules.

All indoor visitor facilities, such as nature centers, environmental education centers, visitor centers, and historic houses are closed to the public.  Restrooms are closed in most cases.

Kaaterskill Falls is now reopened to the public.

Kaaterskill Falls is now open and can be accessed from the Laurel House Road and Scutt Road parking areas. The area can also be accessed from the Kaaterskill Rail Trail parking lot at the Mountain Top Historical Society.  However, the Molly Smith parking area at Bastion Falls on SR 23A remains closed.
