Meet at Morgan Outdoors, in Livingston Manor, for a brief intro to NY’s longest trail, the Finger Lakes Trail, which passes through the Catskills. Meet Rick Roberts, the FLT Coordinator for the Catskill section (90 miles of trail), who constructed several connecting trail sections in our area.

After a short talk we will drive to Balsam Lake Mountain trailhead to hike to Balsam Lake Mountain fire tower, on a section of the Finger Lakes Trail. Great views at the summit. Bring snack or lunch to enjoy on the summit.   (optional loop hike is 4.4 miles roundtrip if you descend the trail heading east, making a triangle).
