Long Pond

This hike is designed for those working on the Catskills All Trail Challenge. We’ll hike the required sections of the Neversink-Hardenburgh and Long Pond – Beaver Kill Ridge Trails, as well as a section of the Mongaup-Hardenburgh Trail, and a short detour to the shelter at Long Pond.

Event Duration:  18 miles, 14 hours

Level of Difficulty:  Difficult

Bring: Headlamps with extra batteries, comfortable hiking boots, hiking poles (recommended), snacks, at least 3 liters of water/sports drink, sun screen, bug repellent

Group size is limited to 12, so register early.

Additional Information:  For those working on the Catskills Hundred Highest we can take very short detours to the summits of Willowemoc and Sand Pond Mountains.

The meeting point is a DEC parking area East of the intersection of Basily Rd and Wild Meadow Rd. We’ll leave unneeded cars there, and will drive to the end of the easily driveable section of Basily Rd. This is where the hike will end. We’ll leave a car there, and will drive to the end of the easily driveable section of Black Bear Rd. to start the hike.
