Join Al Purdy in the Western Catskills for a point-to-point hike from Morton Hill Road to Cat Hollow Road (State Rte 206/ County Hwy 7) along the Trout Pond and Campbell Mountain Trails. This eight-mile hike is rated as moderate-to-difficult and is expected to last for six-to-seven hours. This is a good chance to explore a lesser-known section of the region’s trail system.
Participants should bring food/ snacks, water/ drink, proper clothing and layers, sturdy hiking shoes, microspikes, a headlamp -- and wear bright clothing in case hunters are in the area. Note, this hike requires a shuttle. We will meet at the Cat Hollow Trailhead – this is where the hike will end. We will then caravan to Morton Hill Road to begin.
Directions to Cat Hollow Trailhead: From NYS Thruway Exit 19/ Kingston turn right onto Route 28 west and follow for 46.4 miles. Turn left onto Route 30 for 19.9 miles. Turn left onto Route 206/ Cat Hollow Road for 2.2 miles to the DEC parking area on your right, alongside Route 206.
From the south, beginning at the traffic light in Roscoe, the Cat Hollow Trailhead is 9 miles and will be on your left.
