Join Laura Battelani, CMC Board Member and volunteer for the NYNJ Trail conference as she maintains her adopted trail for the Spring season. We will drive to the Hill Road Trailhead and climb approximately 1500' gradually, then begin trail inspection and clearing on Dry Brook Ridge. We'll hike southward to Pakatakan Mountain, passing a 700-year-old bog and arrive at a beautiful lookout of the Pepacton Reservoir. We'll relax and have a midday lunch at the overlook with beautiful western views of the Catskills. On the return trip, there is one more mile of maintenance, past the intersection with the Hill Road Trail.
This hike/ maintenance trip is rated moderate-difficult, as it is about six miles in length and should take us about six hours. The event is limited to 12 participants, and registration is required. To register, contact Laura Battelani at bodyworx@catskill.net by June 10.
Participants should bring lunch, snacks, water/ beverage, a hat, insect repellent, rain gear, and sturdy hiking boots/ shoes. Wear comfortable layers. If you would like to help trail clearing bring hand clippers, loppers, a foldable saw, gloves, and eye protection. Dogs are not permitted on this hike.
