Mike Kudish

Dr. Michael Kudish is a well-known speaker in and around the Catskills and New York State. Mike is a professor emeritus from the Division of Forestry at Paul Smith’s College. He obtained his PhD from SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse, NY. His presentation, “What can the bogs teach us about history?” highlights his research on the numerous bogs in the Catskills. Join us and learn the wonder of bogs. It might just “boggle” your mind when it comes to this unusual subject.

Woodchuck Lodge, located in Roxbury and the location of this event, is the summer home of John Burroughs (1837-1921), naturalist and author. The home and property is preserved and managed by Woodchuck Lodge Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the historic Lodge and to promoting the ideas and legacy of John Burroughs through events and activities that encourage people to live, work and prosper in harmony with nature.

Wild Saturday is an annual program brought to you by Woodchuck Lodge and its supporters, featuring a variety of speakers from May through October. It is free and open to the public. To reach Woodchuck Lodge, take State Route 28 to Arkville; turn north onto County Highway 38; go 1 mile and turn right onto Route 30 North. Proceed 11.1 miles, through the hamlet of Roxbury, and turn left onto Hard Scrabble Road. In .85 of a mile, turn left onto Burroughs Memorial Road. Go 1.1 miles and Woodchuck Lodge is on the right.
