We’ll set out on the Wittenberg-Cornell-Slide Trail from Woodland Valley until the Phoenicia East Branch Trail is reached on the shoulder of Wittenberg Mountain. From here we’ll enjoy the ramble along the picturesque ridgeline that traverses Cross Mountain, Mount Pleasant, and Romer Mountain, before the plunge into the Esopus Valley and arrival at Lane Street. This hike is rated as difficult, as it will cover 11.6 miles and is expected to take about eight hours.

Participants should bring lunch/ snacks, plenty of water/ beverage, rain jacket/ proper clothing, insect repellent, sunscreen, and sturdy hiking shoes. Dogs are not permitted on this hike.
Directions and additional info: From NYS Thruway Exit 19/ Kingston/ Traffic Circle take right Route 28 west for 22.2 miles and merge right onto Bridge Street/ County Highway 40 for 0.2 miles. Turn left onto High Street for 0.5 miles. Turn left onto Lane Street for 0.1 miles to the Romer Mountain Trailhead Parking Area. This is where the hike will end. We will then car shuttle approximately five miles to the beginning of the hike at Woodland Valley Campground, where a fee to park may be required.
