HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!Join the CMC for a First Day hike in partnership with the NYSDEC. We'll celebrate the New Year with an exploration of the winter beauty of remote and wild Kelly Hollow in the western Catskills. The trail passes through a nice variety of terrain and forests before reaching an old beaver pond and a lean-to near the high point. This is an easy-moderate hike. With luck, we'll have good conditions for snowshoeing.Event Duration: 3 miles, 3.5 hours Level of Difficulty: Easy-Moderate
Leader(s): Wendell GeorgeBring: Water, snacks, lunch, good hiking boots, a traction device like Microspikes and snowshoes. Hiking poles, a map and compass are recommended. Wear moisture wicking layers that can be easily shed or added as needed.Registration required by December 30th. Register by contacting the leader. See below. Be sure to check email on the morning of the hike to see if our plans have changed.Constant snow or frigid temperatures will cancel this hike.If you are not able to keep your reservation, please contact the leader asap so we do not wait unnecessarily for you and so others can join us.Group size is limited to 12, so register early.Dogs: Well behaved dogs welcome with the leader's permission. Turn left onto BWS Rd 10 (Reservoir Rd.), then immediately right 3.8 miles to Millbrook Road. Turn left 5.4 miles to the Kelly Hollow Trail Parking Area on right.
