Hike Giant Ledge and Panther Mountain | Saturday, December 29, 2018 8:30 AM
From the hairpin turn on Rt 47, we'll hike (or snowshoe) over Giant Ledge and Panther, finishing at the Fox Hollow parking area. Weather permitting, we'll enjoy some of the best views in the Catskills. We'll complete the entire Giant Ledge - Panther - Fox Hollow Trail, and a short section of the Phoenicia - East Branch Trail. This hike will satisfy one of the Catskill 3500 Club's winter peak requirements. Event Duration: 8.2 miles, 6 hoursLevel of Difficulty: Difficult

Bring: Snowshoes, traction devices, and poles may be required depending on trail conditions. Since sunset will be early, headlamps are required in case we're delayed on the trail. Bring lunch, snacks and 2 liters of water or sports drink. Wear warm, comfortable boots, and clothing based on the forecast. Driving Directions: We'll meet at the Fox Hollow parking area (Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/o2Pi9MFmFYr)From teh intersection of Routes 42 and 28 in Shandaken, drive East on Rt 28 for 0.6 miles. Turn right onto Fox Hollow Rd, and drive 1.6 miles. The parking area will be on your right. This is where the hike will finish. We'll leave cars there and drive to the Panther Mountain trailhead at the hairpin turn on Rt 47 to start the hike.GPS: 42.09819 N, 74.39140 W
