Dry Brook Ridge Hike

Dry Brook Ridge from Margaretville Mountain

Here’s an outing to a lesser visited part of the Catskills. The walk is about five miles in length and will ascend 1200’. Fit beginners are welcome to join this event, which is rated as moderate. Hikers need to bring water/ sports drink, lunch/ snacks, sturdy water-resistant boots, proper winter/ layered clothing, snowshoes, and microspikes; gaiters and hiking poles are recommended. We expect the hike to take about four hours.

The event is limited to 12 people and registration is required by March 10. To register, contact event leader Marv Freedman at marvfreedman@gmail.com  Dogs are permitted only with the permission of the event leader.

We will meet at the Dry Brook Ridge parking area on Mill Brook Rd. at 8am. We will then shuttle to Ploutz Rd to begin the one-way route. The upper section of Ploutz Rd. is not maintained, so if it’s not passable we will park halfway up, and this will extend the hike by about a half mile.
