Here’s an opportunity to hike four high peaks in the Central Catskills. This outing, rated as difficult, is suited to experienced hikers, as it is 11 miles in length, includes 3300’ of elevation gain, and is both on and off marked trails.
The pace of the hike will be moderate (about 1-1/2 mph moving speed) with steep climbs, and short breaks. The overall time in the woods is expected to be nine hours. Hikers need to bring water/ sports drink, lunch/ snacks, sturdy water-resistant boots, proper winter/ layered clothing, snowshoes, microspikes, a headlamp (we expect to finish before dark, but we need to be prepared in case we don't); gaiters and hiking poles are recommended.
The event is limited to 12 people and registration is required by March 13. To register, contact event leader Marv Freedman at marvfreedman@gmail.com Dogs are permitted only with the permission of the event leader. We will meet at the McKenley Hollow Trailhead at 8 am.
