Halcott Mountain

Join Marv Freedman for a short but steep bushwack to this 3500’+ summit. This is a 3.5-mile hike with a 1700’ ascent. Rated moderate-to-difficult, the hiking pace will be about 1.5 mph. Fit beginners are welcome.

Hikers need to bring: water/sports drink, snacks (we will not stop for a long lunch), insect repellent, sunscreen, sunglasses, sturdy/water resistant hiking shoes, and hiking poles (recommended). This hike is limited to 12 people, and registration is required. To register, contact Marv Freedman at marvfreedman@gmail.com by March 31. Please include your cell number in your registration request. Dogs are permitted with the permission of the event leader.

We will meet at trailhead near Halcott Mountain on State Route 42 in Deep Notch at 8:30am. This trailhead is not signed and has a small parking area on the west side of the highway.

From the north, take State Route 23a to State Route 42 at Lexington. Take 42 6.3 miles and the parking areas in on the right.

From the south, take State Route 28 to State Route 42. Take 42 5.1 miles and the parking area is on the left.
