Join Al Purdy for this out-and-back 15-miler to the Mount Tremper Fire Tower along the Warner Creek Trail. This highly scenic, less-traveled route includes one large stream crossing. Participants should bring extra clothes in the case of getting wet. Also bring lunch/ food, water/ drink, proper clothing/ layers, rain gear, insect repellent, flashlight, and sturdy hiking shoes. Depending on conditions, this difficult yet adventurous hike may take ten hours. This event is limited to 12 hikers, so please register early. All hikers must register by September 20. Additional info: Severe weather will postpone the hike. High water levels at the stream crossing will also postpone the hike.
Directions to meeting location: Take Exit 19 Kingston from the NYS Thruway to Route 28 and follow for 22.7 miles. Turn right onto Route 214/ Main Street Phoenicia; go 0.2 miles and turn left and continue on Route 214 for 7.7 miles. Turn right onto Notch Inn Road and the parking area will be on your left near the road’s entrance.
