North Point Hike

Take a 10.6-mile hike from Colgate Lake along the Escarpment, Mary’s Glen, and Rock Shelter Trails to the Scutt Road Parking Area. Rated as difficult, this one-way hike is expected to take about eight hours.

Participants should bring lunch/ snacks, water/ beverage, clothing layers, rain gear, sturdy shoes, poles if preferred, and wear bright colors. Registration for this hike is required by 10/18. The hike is limited to 12 people, so please register early. Register by contacting Al Purdy at Albertpurdy1@aol.com or (845) 489-2332. Dogs are not permitted on this hike.

Directions: To reach the Scutt Road Parking Area take State Route 23A (4.9 miles west of Palenville; 2 miles east of Tannersville traffic light) to North Lake Road (Co. Hwy. 18). Take this road 2.2 miles and see the small sign for the access point (just before the state campground entrance), turn right, and the parking area is on the right.

Additional Information: The Scutt Road parking area will be our meeting place and the end of hike. We will drive/ shuttle to Colgate Lake to begin the hike.
