Saturday, September 7, 9:00 AM – Wittenberg Mountain

We’ll hike up the beautiful and often steep Wittenberg-Cornell-Slide Trail. From Woodland Valley we’ll go to the open and spacious summit of Wittenberg Mountain with it’s unparalleled views of the Catskills and the Ashokan Reservoir below. The view is widely considered to be the finest in the Catskills. The hike is 7.8 miles and will take about 8 hours. Wear good boots and bring plenty of water. We’ll eat at the summit. Strenuous. Well behaved dogs welcome. Rain cancels. Register by Friday, September 6 by contacting CMC board member Wendell George at wendell@catskillmountainclub.org or 845-254-4546. If you need to cancel, contact me by 8:00 AM Saturday.

Directions: From SR 28 in Phoenicia, turn south onto Woodland Valley Rd. Go about 5 miles to the P.A. on the right. At this time of year the DEC collects a fee for parking, so get there a few minutes early and go to the office up the road and on the left.
