Plattekill State Forest Trail Maintenance

Plattekill State Forest - Eastern Entrance

Join this trip to help complete clearing of the 5.5-mile (non-motorized) road that traverses the Plattekill State Forest. We’ll begin and conclude at the eastern access point and remove encroaching vegetation on the final unmaintained section of road. Participants should bring gloves, medium-to-large pruners, a handsaw, food/ snacks, water/sports drink, sturdy hiking boots, proper clothing, and a bright orange outer layer.

Driving directions: From Margaretville, take State Route 28 west 4.9 miles; turn right on County Hwy 6 and continue 5.25 miles to New Kingston. At the northern edge of New Kingston bear right onto Thompson Hollow Road. Go 2.1 miles and turn left onto Harold Roberts Rd.; go 1.9 miles and the State Forest Access parking is on the right.

From Delhi, take Rte. 28 south for 7.5 miles and turn left on County Highway 6. Take CH6 (becomes a town road at 5.2 miles) for 10.2 miles to New Kingston. Upon entering New Kingston, turn left onto Thompson Hollow Rd. Go 2.1 miles and turn left onto Harold Roberts Rd.; go 1.9 miles and the State Forest Access parking is on the right.
